July Work

Lake Superior Memories, 24" x 48", July 2009

Golden Fields with Periwinkle, 38" x 48", July 2009

Three new pieces I'm excited about. "Lake Superior Memory" already found its rightful home just two doors down from me in the home of my friend and fan, Danielle. "Golden Fields with Periwinkle" was commissioned by my daughter, Tamara, for her new house.

Getting Busy in the Studio...

As winter abates the trek from the house to the studio becomes alluring again... So much so that I've completed five new pieces and started two others in the last couple of weeks.  It seems warmth and sunshine bring about the sprouting of idea after idea!  It's amazing when I think back just three or four weeks to the slug and lethargy and catatonic shivering that kept me from all but the most essential endeavors.

Simultaneous with the sun and heat and invigorating engagement with studio work, my son-in-law gave me a book called, THE WAR OF ART, by Steven Pressfield (author of the novels THE LEGEND OF BAGGAR VANCE  and  GATES OF FIRE), that Esquire describes (and I agree...) as "A vital gem... a kick in the ass"  applicable to every area of creative endeavor.  You might want to look it up if the very arrival of Spring isn't already giving you that "kick" or should you hit one of those inevitable slumps.
I've added new work to the website I share with my husband, so take a look when you get a chance.
Here's a  sample of new work:
